National Age Championships - Day 7
Swim of the day...
... goes to Charlotte Lim finishing the week with a Gold medal performance in the Girls 13 years 200m IM.
Charlotte led from start to finish, touching the wall in a 30.18 in at the end of the Butterfly leg, and then racing home in a 31.61 in the Freestyle leg, to finish 2.25 seconds ahead of the Silver place getter. Charlotte’s swim was a 4.89 second pb, which is impressive to see at the end of a big week.
Amazing job, Charlotte!
In the Girls 14 years 200m IM, Kaitlin Barry claimed her second Silver medal of the meet. Kaitlin got up and put herself in the race early, and very similar to her team mate, showed grit in the last 50 and came home to take the medal in a very close race.
Katlin’s time of 2:22.71 was a pb swim to finish off the week.
A great effort, Kaitlin.
Issy Mulcahy featured in her 7th & 8th finals of the week, in the Girls 15 years 400m Freestyle and 200m Backstroke. Issy swam a 4:25.21 to claim a Bronze medal in the 400m, finishing the meet with 2 Golds and a Bronze.
After making the National Flipper Open Water squad this year, Issy has gone from strength to strength in her distance Freestyle events.
Keep up the great work, Issy!
In the daytime straight final of the Girls 13 years 1500m Freestyle, Lexi Mulcahy dropped a huge 28.53 seconds off her pb, to claim the distance double Gold medals.

A great week, Lexi - well done!

In what has been our biggest National Age Championships since the new look coaching team started in October 2021. It is amazing to sit back and appreciate the progress the team has made in less than 4 years.
In April 2021 Carlile finished 41st at these championships, moving to 21st in 2022, 9th in 2023, 7th in 2024, and now 1st.
This is A HUGE ACHIEVEMENT FROM THE WHOLE TEAM AND A TESTAMENT TO THE WORK THE SWIMMERS HAVE PUT INTO THEIR TRAINING OVER THE LAST 12 MONTHS!
As a coaching team, we are extremely proud of the way the swimmers have performed this week, and more importantly the way they have carried themselves around the poolside.
Job well done, team!
