Competitive Program Technical Consultants
Providing the best possible coaching and training environment for Carlile swimmers alongside continuing professional development was always a high priority for Forbes and Ursula within the competitive program. As such we are pleased to announce that the Carlile Swimming Competitive Program is working closely with two world renowned technical consultants in Leigh Nugent and Bill Sweetenham.
Our technical consultants have been working closely with our swimmers, coaches, staff and directors within both the competitive program and the teachers/coaches within Carlile Swim Schools as we strive to provide the best possible environment to Carlile swimmers, coaches and staff.
Bill Sweetenham
Bill Sweetenham has served as Head Coach of national swimming teams at 5 Olympic Games for 3 different countries and has coached swimmers to success at 9 World Championships and 8 Commonwealth Games. Under Bill’s management as National Performance Director of British Swimming, Britains swimmers won 18 World Championship titles, broke more than 200 domestic records and produced their best ever Commonwealth Games, World Championships and Olympic Games results.
Bill continues to lecture, publish and conduct clinics on a variety of subjects worldwide, and has produced a series of educational and instructional videos on skills and technique. He is a published author of ‘Championship Swim Training’. Bill is internationally recognised for his visionary strategic planning capabilities, in particular the priority he places on relay performances and the success he has achieved in converting this to the area of team performance.
Leigh Nugent
Leigh has been involved in the swim school and all levels of the swimming coaching industry for over 45 years. Leigh has personally coached swimmers to international success at World Championship, Pan Pacific Championships and the Commonwealth Games. Leigh was the National Youth coach between 2001 - 2010, where he was responsible for developing Australia’s youth athletes and coaches to become internationally competitive at both the youth and senior level.
Leigh was appointed as the National Head Coach for two successful periods including the 2004 and 2012 Olympic Games, along with multiple World Championships, Pan Pacific Championships and Commonwealth Games. During this time, Leigh played an integral role in over 130 international medal winning performances and is jointly the most successful gold medal winning Head Coach of all time in Australian Olympic sport. Leigh currently consults for Swimming Australia, is the Technical Coaching Director advising South Australia and Western Australia, along work with Nunawading Swimming Club and Just Swimming in Victoria.
As pat of Leigh work with Carlile, he will be delivering workshops to our swim school teachers and coaches.
